FARMER"S PLIGHT

FARMER'S PLIGHT

Two  neighbouring   states

 with relations great

loving each other's culture

and foods they offer

be it Mysore Masala  Dosa

Or Maddur  vada

or Mangalore Bonda

or Tamil nadu pongal

or tasty Kadambam

They relish them

movies of Tamil

Kannadiga’s   thrill

Both are peace loving lot

Religious belief  they value lot

But at times of Farmer's needs

Two brothers fight in deed

Between TN and KA  I got in

 water sharing Problems begin

TNIKA Meaning water

Cauvery the river

Feeds both states , life giver

Think of farmer's plight

Two seasons crops they rise

Kuruvai in May to june

Samba in Nov to December

Samba crop no issue at all

South west monsoon supporting  well

Our farmers are small land owners

Their lives depend on crop yields

look at farming cycle

farmer dreams of nice crop yield

begins his task of selecting good seed

he prepares the land and sows the seed

begins to irrigate and crops growth begins

he adds fertilizers  for good yield

waits for a nice harvest yield

Think of his plight with no water

On his investment , a jolter

he has gone to borrow to maximum extent

his investments wilted away

a deep agonizing way

oh poor farmers, feeders of the nation

you are left with nothing but loan burden

you are not of NIRAV MODY class to worsen

forced to sell cattle and field

your dreams shattered , no yield

farmers of two states, you understand your plight

demand for water for irrigation priority

let other needs take back seat for few months

ground water supporting others for those months

Think of alternate crops for Kuruvai taking  less water

Reducing water requirements for irrigation matters

Annadatha   sukhi  bhava, be the song of nation

pray almighty for more rains, the solution
