DR NN CHARI , he was called dearly
Born in Nellore ,Andhra Pradesh. To illustrious family
Bright in studies, called often as a genius
He never let down expectations of those dear
Obtained BS and MS from Andhra university
Excelled in academic accomplishments
Worked under Prof Seshadri FRS
And got his Doctorate, first PhD IN Chemistry
Of Department of Chemistry Delhi University
He joined Hindustan Antibiotics, Poona
Produced Pencilin and other antibiotics
18 years he served as an executive,
His desire to pursue mental health
Drove him in 1968 to Illinois as a chief scientist
In 1978 he moved to Medical college Virginia, Richmond
He worked on pharmacology, psychiatry and Neuroscience
He published over 300 technical articles
His high academic stature in mental health
Was invited to Duke university
He served for four years, his contributions many
His innate desire brought him back to Richmond
Apart from science, believer of Hindu religion
He introduced a Hindu center in Virginia
He was well versed in Hindu Principles and religious practices
He is known as a scholar, scientist and a priest
His wife Indira participated with him in Hindu celebrations
A loving. and caring Personality ,regarded as motherly some Indian families
Her constant desire to know welfare of her dear ones, likable noble quality
Dr NN chari, and Indira have a son Raghavan, a computer scientist
A daughter Gita Narasimhan, a nuclear scientist, second daughter Asha Mark pulmonologist
Has nine grand children and two great grand children
Dr Chari influenced Kalathur family into which he was married
He was a guide in build up of career of kalathur children
He created a halogen family of doctorates in them
DR Santhanam, DR Narasimhan ,DR Srinivasan
He had a different plan for me to take up engineering
I became a space scientist, building satellites
My younger brothe Raghu too to masters in engineering
He has motivated his grand children
Vasanth Narasimhan, into medical field and would be proud
He is the CEO of Novartis, a fitting compliment
Prasanth, a computer scientist, Srikanth , an economist
NNChari and Indira have been a great source of inspiration
Role models to emulate in science and society
Dr chari passed away on July 8 2014 and indira too in 2015
Invisible to eyes, mind portrays
Their love affection and deeds
