TENT ROCKS

cochiti 095.JPG

TENT ROCKS
Kasha- Katuwe Tent rocks
 Find cone shaped tent rocks
On   Pajarito    plateau
In   North central  New Mexico.

Seven million years old eruptions volcanic
Deposited pumice, ash, tuff   thousand   feet thick
Into tent rock formations up to ninety feet
A   scenic beauty, a delight.

Canyons, arroyos, scooping holes in rock
See them in one point five mile walk
Bundles of grey interspersion with beige
Pink   color along cliff faces, scenic indeed.

Native Americans of Cochiti
Call it Kasha  Katuwe , meaning white cliff
A   place of spirituality and renewal
Collect plants for medicinal and ceremonial.
