THOSE WERE THE DAYS
Those were the Days
Those were the days children
Never will you ever imagine
Well used to comforts of today
Days our your parents bygone days.
Mothers day begins with no gas to cook
Blowing the fire on logs of wood
Smoke more than fire, until it catches fire
Tears rolling down the eyes of hers.
No washing machine of these days
With drying feature in built to suit your ways
No emergency lamps to light up the house
Only candle power to cook or hand fans for air release.
No phones to talk to friends or relatives
No TV to watch and relax too
No cars of present days to travel
Tongas or bullock carts means to avail.
Call from neighboring city from relatives
Walk miles to receive to post offices
With wild thoughts hovering in mind
Until you resolve after talking relieved you find.
If abroad, Your brothers or sisters
You need weeks to exchange letters
No vonage or magic jack of today
To talk to them anytime rightaway.
Blessed are you children of today
Technology making life easy in many ways
Day a child is born, starts communicating
With cello phones ,gran first cry of baby

Aging and Memories
AGING AND MEMORIES
Memory you experience , fails you at times
Causing embarrassment in introducing persons by names
Not that you have developed Alzheimer’s disease
Simply a memory break down process you see.
Brain’s over all structure remains same
Or the number of nerve cells just the same
Connections between cells change as you learn
Synapses falter to to retrieve as we become older.
Causes for retention in memory declining
Unhealthy genes, exposed to poisons , or smoking or drinking
Worry not memory loss, dementia inevitable
With physical exercise, mental stimulation improvable.
Stimulating environmental conditions encourages growth of dendrites
While dull environment certainly impedes this all the while
Use your brain, avoid problems due to lack of use
Feel the effectiveness adopting this principle.
Crossword puzzles, word games, brain teasers
Physical activity, health diet and stress relievers
Make it a point to keep up good memory
Fruits of good memory obvious to thee.
Lack of rehearsal cause of memory decay
Experience followed by adverse experience leads to interference
Motivation remembers tasks to be completed than completed
Retrieval failure a cause of improper encode.
Organization of material in form to memory
Focus improves concentration to store and retrieve
Associations with place or task see Loci improving
Acronyms and chunky ways to improve recording.

MEMORY
MEMORY
Encoding first step in memory creation
A biological phenomenon with perception
day your first meeting with your girl friend
Features of hers registered in your mind.
Colour of her eyes, texture of her hair
Scent of perfume, hand touch of hers
Sensations different, travelled to your brain
In a part of brain hippocampus, integrated experience remain.
Hippocampus with frontal Cortex
Decide senses worth remembering for us
Stored in part of brain ,they remain
Retrieved to form a cohesive memory puzzle remain.
Language of storage , electricity and chemicals
Nerve cells connect at Synapsse well
Electrical pulses leaping across gaps between cells
Releasing chemical messenger, Neuro transmitters.
Neurotransmitters diffuse among cells well
Attracting themselves to neighboring cells
Each brain cell can form thousands of such links
Giving brain hundred trillion synapses.
Brain cells receiving message called Dendrites
Feathering tip of brain cells reaching out neighboring cells
Brain cells are not a set of concrete connections
They change all the time with processing.
Cells to Synapse structure goes stronger
More and more signal flow between them occur
Experience rewires memory structure
Plasticity helps rewriting memory architecture.
More connections created in brain
Repeated wiring of cells in order with in brain
Replay of them in the same order again
After several weeks you need to train memory again.
Encoding after filtering enters your memory with awareness
Filtering before or after entry into brain is known less
Importance of events by how much of it you remember
For long and short memories know factors better.
