ARCHES

 ARCHES NATIONAL PARK



DOUBLE ARCH






Story  of Arches 65 million years old


A dry bed of ocean spreading horizon to horizon


You stand  and watch its beauty , red rocks standout


What we see today , a buried of thousand years back


An uncovered stand stones


Landscape story  slowly began to change


Geological forces wrinkled and folded


The buried sandstones , like folding of rug


Makes lump across the middle


Called  anti chimes


Sandstones warped


Fractures tore through it


Establishing patterns of rock sculpture


Devil’s garden, striking rock features


Carved over thousands of years


Arches formed as a result of erosion


Through weak spots of sandstone fins  of Jurasic  age Dewey  Bridge


Park has two hundred or so arches

AGATE BEACH

 

AGATE BEACH


































Six miles north of Trinidad on highway 101


Exit at Patric point StatePark, a camp site nice one


Agate beach,  two miles of solitude and splendour


Happy visit to a  site, for  a Nature lover


The shore birds share on the beach


With humans and at times Pelicans too on the beach


Sit and contemplate on the ocean and it’s awesome power


Reaching the shore after taking a flight of stairs


Relax and refreshed after ocean stare


Place is not for swimmers, with water so cold


Can lead to health issues, we are told


Enjoy camping site, it provides heated cabins


For  tourists visiting with trailers, as additional attraction seen

LASSEN VOLCANIC ACTIVITY

 LASSEN VOLCANIC ACTIVITY, MUD POTS AND FUMAROLES


















 








Lassen Volcanic activity  presents in Bumpass Hell, Devil’s kitchen,


Boiling Springs lake and Terminal geyser


Hydro thermal activity of the park


Can be seen on trail walk


3 hrs trail walk of Devil’s kitchen 


Compact collection of fumaroles and mud pots


Water in  Boiling  Springs lake at 55 degree centigrade


Heated by streams rising through the underground vents and fissures


Terminal geyser with a fumarole that blasts steam  into a small stream 


With   occasional surge and force, a worth seeing scene


Rotten egg smell of hydrogen sulphide can be experienced in Sulphur Works


A forerunner in the formation of Sulphur


Due to heat generated in Magma underneath the earth


Ground water boils and peeps through  cracks as sulphur 


In the figures you see mud pots  and fumaroles close to parking area

McArthur Burney memorial Falls

 



 McArthur Burney Memorial Falls











Located in Shasta county in Northern  California


 Samuel Burney lived here in 1850


He died in 1860


Mc Arthur bought the 1000 acre land in 1860


He sold it  later to State for a poultry 1$


The falls named after Burney Mc Arthur 


The falls not the tallest or widest in California


But yet a gorgeous fall in California


A 129 foot  217 feet wide spectacular fall fern draped


Water flows at 100 million gallons a day

A scenic 1.3 mile loop trail easy for all
