CIVIC SENSE
K.S.V.SESHADRI
Civic sense nothing but ethics in society
Building in to our lives sense of gaiety
By working for it with a spirit of oneness
Proud with achievement of togetherness.
We the Indian society, with customs variety
Beliefs and faiths based on legacy
For civic sense nonetheless integrate
An environment pleasant you create.
Interdependence, key of life in every walk
Education, transportation , communication we talk
Health, religion , social, cultural we embark
Togetherness we embrace and make a mark.
Civic sense , an important sense to fulfill
Parents at home, teachers at school will
Imbibe into a child without fail
As a society we then will marvel.
Parents teach them cleanliness in wear always
In every work they undertake, cleanliness pays
With love, caring and sharing feeling
Leads to a good society breeding.
Teachers build up relations among children
Without feelings of caste, creed and religion
Build up leadership and personality
Leading to a noble society.
Hygiene for a child lies in
Keeping hands and legs clean
Well washed clothes to wear
Dirt is something they hate to spare.
At designated places urinate in
Dirty not walls, let shine remain
Have a heart for humans that struggle
Maintaining cleanliness due to acts you indulge.
Inculcate civic sense in children
For society it is a half job done
Rest of life they shall propagate
Civics becomes breath like state.
Ours primarily an agricultural nation
In villages majority of population
With rich greenery all around them
Inhaling pure air , no pollution in them.
Poverty widely prevails in villages
Landless labourers among masses
Life governed by superstitious beliefs
Poor victims of age old practices.
Our goal shall be to educate them
Literacy eradicates superstition in them
Providing more employment opportunities
In increasing small scale agro industries.
Urban life in cities and towns seen
With streets and roads broad and clean
Houses with modern facilities increasing
Multi storied buildings mushrooming.
Modern society with technology
TV, computer, cell phone changing rapidly
Access to world through internet communications
Our lives yet governed by language , culture and traditions.
Drainage, transportation,, education facilities
Hospitals and communication facilities
Well planned development in growth
In harmony live people of all faith.
Noise pollution, with growing traffic all around
Environmental pollution added to surround
Pedestrians have no pathway to walk
With shopping galleries on foot path.
Filth and waste materials into water bodies
Chemical effluents released into them merrily
Domestic waste by the side of own property
Needs regulatory bodies to condemn strictly.
Air we breathe, the ground we walk
Needs to be fine for our walk and talk
Practice habit of clean surroundings
Build habit to avoid even smallest littering.
Where poverty lurks, illiteracy proliferates
Cleanliness there is none to appreciate
Littering is of no consequence
Health and hygiene ignorance.
Family planning is important
Poor unfortunately resistant
Burden of poverty accumulates
Time for them to realize and propagate.
Just keeping streets and public property clean
Is not the civic sense we mean
Follow laws , respect all citizens
Maintain decorum in public places.
Society is for us to build
Instill in them what they lack
Civic sense is meant for all
People in power no exception at all.
In public life hold your head high
Honest and forth right in actions we like
Corruption is something you oppose
Society for progress you enforce.
Hygiene, hygiene shall be the thrust
Once realized easy becomes the rest
Dirtiness around , cause of it you
Cleanliness promotion rests in you.
Born we are in any faith
Born we are in any strata
Born we are strong or weak
Never we had the option to choose.
Making our surroundings clean
If we take efforts we mean
Build up a place so proud to see
Beauty so refreshing to rejoice for thee.
Moral values you inculcate
Others too like you and regulate
Discontentment in society vanishes
Nobleness around flourishes
